Thought worth remembering

"Nothing is so embarrassing as watching someone do something that you said couldn't be done."

— Sam Ewing

Why documentation?

Aldridge, Kerr & Associates, Inc. provides documentation solutions to its clients. We believe documentation is necessary for an organization to sustain long-term success.

Here's the top 10 list of why you need documentation:

  1. To assist new employees as they learn about the organization.

  2. To provide a knowledge resource of critical tasks so that knowledge-gaps are avoided when employees leave.

  3. To define expectations on how a task should be performed.

  4. To evaluate and then document an organization's guiding principles (via policies). This process of evaluation assists an organization in more clearly defining who they are and what has been defined as important.

  5. To document the tasks critical to support the organization (via procedures) so that they may be assessed for adequacy.

  6. To comply with regulatory requirements, such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2003.

  7. To be used as a training reference.

  8. To clarify any new system, product, process, service, or strategy.

  9. To provide a reference for infrequently performed, but critical tasks.

  10. To position an organization for expansion and growth through clearly defining and documenting guiding principles (policies) and critical tasks (procedures).

Aldridge, Kerr is available to assist your organization with its documentation needs. Contact Charlene Aldridge at 972.447.9787 or CharleneAldridge@aldridgekerr.com to discuss how we can assist you!
