There are challenges with the execution of any project. Here are some helpful hints that will increase the probability that your project will be completed on time and within budget:
Keep projects to a manageable size and length. Any project over one year long should be structured into phases.
The biggest challenge with any project is its execution. Determine what needs to be done and lay forth the "blueprint" for completing the project on time and within budget. This should be documented clearly and concisely in a Project Plan.
The Project Plan should clearly define the scope of the project, the milestones and their deliverables, the roles of all participants, and defined results.
Remember to include the timeline for communicating the status, the successes, delays, etc. This should be presented in a Communication Plan and should be part of the overall Project Plan.
Consider the risks related to the execution of the project and be sure to have a contingency plan if problems arise. These should be presented in a Risk Plan and should be part of the overall Project Plan.
Involve the End-Users from the project’s inception, as they will provide insights others will not see.
