Experience implementing S-Ox

Aldridge, Kerr spent much of 2003 helping companies implement S-Ox, which included project management, training, and implementation support.

In addition, we were able to provide some added value by implementing processes that enhanced the client’s operations.

Project Management

Aldridge, Kerr can provide direction in defining the appropriate approach for your organization to implement S-Ox. This may include defining and documenting the approach, the controls, a training strategy, and/or the training materials. We can then coordinate the efforts of all applicable participants to ensure compliance with this law.

Aldridge, Kerr has years of project management and documentation experience and also has been working with companies to implement S-Ox effectively.

Implementation Support

Sarbanes-Oxley Act provides little direction on how to comply with this new law. Aldridge, Kerr can work with the key participants to ensure the chosen approach is effectively implemented. This includes documenting the processes, the training, and/or the controls.

We also have years of operational experience and can work with the participants to identify those activities that are critical to compliance that extend beyond financial reporting.

In addition, we have an understanding of COSO, which is referenced within the Act and can train your staff on this framework.

Training

An intricate part of the effective implementation of S-Ox within an organization is to ensure all staff has a clear understanding of their role and responsibilities related to this new law.

This includes but is not limited to:

An understanding of the major provisions of the Act, the critical sections related to complying, including Section 906. 

The approach the company has chosen to implement S-Ox.

 Documentation of the internal controls, the training, and/or the processes.

Those within the company responsibility to “certify.”

How COSO will play a role with the implementation, if this framework is adopted.

Process Management

Implementing best practices (i.e., improved processes, controls, and standards) positions a company to capitalize on complying with this Act.
