Building operational effectiveness by a Leader requires some fundamentals, one of which is listening. Unfortunately, Ernest Hemingway reminds us that “most people do not listen with the intent to understand; they listen with the intent to reply.”
How does listening strengthen a Leader’s effectiveness? Mike Myatt of NGrowth sums it up well: “Great leaders are great listeners, and therefore my message today is a simple one – talk less and listen more. The best leaders are proactive, strategic, and intuitive listeners. They recognize knowledge and wisdom are not gained by talking, but by listening.”
Improving your listening skills will improve your effectiveness as you lead.
